WA Top Triathletes head to Devenport for the Oceania Championship.

This weekend a group of WA Triathletes, including WA’s top ranked Junior Triathletes are heading to Devenport to take on the best from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands in the Oceania Triathlon Championships.

Cassia Boglio, from Bicton, is the top WA ranked Junior Female and currently ranked 3rd in the Australian Junior Series, in what has been a break out season for her. This season has seen her train with the Triathlon Australia National Performance Centre Head Coach, Dan Atkins and 3x World Champion and Olympian Peter Robinson in what is her last year in this age category.

“My goal for this season is to make the World Junior Team and so in Devenport I’m hoping to improve on the two races I’ve done this season,” said Cassia.

Elliot Roberts (Kallaroo) and Alec Davison(Fremantle) are equal first ranked WA male juniors and ranked 7th in the National Series. Alec has been a consistent performer in the National Series over several years and has won a Junior World Championship in Cross Triathlon in 2017.  Elliot is a rising star in the sport with a very strong run leg that saw him take 4th in the recent Series race in Canberra. The boys are looking forward to fighting it out in Devenport.

There are also number of strong WA athletes heading to Devenport to compete in U23 Category including, the leading WA Open Female athlete Olivia Smith(Gidgegannup) and brother and sister pair Kurt and Aleisha Wesley.

The Devenport Triathlon is on the 2nd & 3rd March and is the Australian and Oceanic Championship for Juniors and U23 athletes.  The race is a 750m swim, 20km bike followed by a 5km run.
