Senior Triathlete of the Year Series

The 2019/2020 Triathlete of the Year has now been finalised with the confirmation that Exceed Triathlon Club will be running the State Duathlon Championships.  This year there will be State Championship races in all major disciplines including Aquathlon, Duathlon, Sprint, Standard, Long Course and Cross Tri. We are also pleased to announce that 3 events have been given World Age Group Qualifying Event status – the Sprint, Standard and Cross Tri Championships. 

The Senior TOTY Series for 2019/20 will consist of 6 events, of which all are State Championships events.  The events are:

  • State Duathlon Championship – 27 October 2019, Champion Lakes
  • City of Joondalup Coastal Quest – 15 December 2019, Whitford Nodes, Hillarys(WQE)
  • LGM Industries Bunbury Classic, State Standard Championships – 16 February 2020, Koombana Bay, Bunbury (WQE)
  • Joondalup Autumn Classic Aquathlon - 14 March 2020, Mullaloo
  • X-Adventure Dunsborough, State Cross Tri Championships – 4 & 5 April 2020, Dunsborough(WQE)
  • SunSmart IRONMAN 70.3 Busselton, State Long Course Championships – 2 May 2020, Busselton

For the Triathlete of the Year Series, points are awarded to the first ten eligible TWA members in the Open and age group categories in each race as shown in the table.  You must be a member at the time of competing and your best 3 results will count towards your tally.

In the Open category there is prize money up for grabs in the State Sprint, State Standard and State Long Course events.  Prize money will go to the top 3 male and female competitors. There is also prize money for the top 3 athletes in the overall Triathlete of the Year Series Award which will be awarded at the Triathlon WA Annual Awards.

There are some great new events in the series this year and there’s plenty of opportunity to get points on the board.  So make sure you get out there and support these events and be in the running for the prestigious title of Triathlete of the Year.

The City of Joondalup - Coastal Quest Triathlon event is schedule for on 15 December 2019. This is the State Sprint Championship and also an Age Group World Qualifying Event.

X-Adventure Dunsborough is the ultimate mix of triathlon and adventure racing; featuring ocean swimming, trail running and mountain bike riding conducted in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for everyone. This is the State Cross Tri Championships and a World AGe Group Qualifying Event.

The 2020 LGM Bunbury City Classic is the State Standard Distance Championship, a round of the Club Event Series and an Age Group World Qualifying Event. Held in the protected waters of Koombana Bay, with a beautiful run along the foreshore it's not to be missed.
