Triathlon Western Australia has a clear athlete pathway that moves athletes from a child (7-11) through to youth (12-15) to junior (16-19) and on to an under 23 athlete (20-22). This pathway way is diagramed below. The pathway allows athletes to self-select at any point to race either in the Performance Stream or Participation Stream based on their ability and desire.
Each year Triathlon Western Australia supports a number of athletes identified through selection criteria. Triathlon Western Australia provides team management and support at national events where West Australian Squad athletes attend and compete.
Triathlon Western Australia works directly with coaches, athletes and parents each season to complete Individual Athlete Performance Plans, focused around developmental improvements.
